“At Ease” is a military command to stand more relaxed. When this command is given, the service men or women are to stand in a relaxed manner with the feet apart and the hands behind the back. At Ease is also what a person feels when hunting or in the outdoors. That is what At Ease Hunting is going to showcase to each and every guest.
As a young kid growing up in Casper Wyoming, hunting was a substantial part of my life. Hunting was not just something our family did for fun, but it was our way of life. My father owned Scotts' Taxidermy in Casper. He was a popular taxidermist for many outfitters in Wyoming. During the many hours I spent at my father’s shop learning from the best in the business, I was inspired to become an outfitter myself. It was my dream to run my own outfitting business.
It’s funny how life can take a person in a different direction. I veered away from my dream of starting an outfitting business to join the Marine Corp at the age of 19. Although hunting still pumped through my veins, serving my country in its time of need was most important to me. I served 5 year with multiple deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan as a door gunner on UH-1N Heuy helicopters. At the end of my active duty enlistment, I decided it was time for the next chapter in my life. I did not re-enlist and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. I moved back home to Casper. It wasn’t long before I was fully emerged into the hunting and fishing world all over again. This time, rather than working in a taxidermy shop with my father, I was guiding.
For the last 11 years I have been guiding fly fishermen and wing shooting. The last 5 of those years were guiding big game for Pathfinder Outfitters. During this time, I have learned how to run a lodge, perfect my profession in customer service, and hone in my skill as a professional guide. Now as I have grown just like in any career, I am ready for the next chapter to begin.
